Neil Atkinson, director of energy research and analysis at Datamonitor, told CNBC on Friday that it is "highly unlikely" that the strike by oil workers in Norway over changes of their pension rights will sustain for any significant period of time. "It would be a major surprise if the whole of the Norwegian oil production were to shut down, as under Norwegian law the government has the right to step in and order the workers to go back to work," he said.
