"The Germans have always been keen on political integration the problem was so far it wasn't well defined, the Germans are clearly more prepared to discuss that seriously the French are much more sensitive to encroachments on national sovereignty," Niels Thygesen, professor Emeritus of international economics at University of Copenhagen, told CNBC.
