Last year Castilla- La Mancha had the highest deficit of any of the regions in Spain, the new president Maria Dolores de Cospedal began a process of austerity and reform measures to try and get the economy back in control. Of course this has had a social cost with unemployment rising five percent during that time to above 27%.
