"There has been some rain in the US but it hasn't made much of a difference because the sub soil moisture and the top soil moisture are not doing very well so it has to continue to be monitored. The US produces fifty percent of corn so the depletion has been immense and is actually a disaster," Ana Puchi-Donnelly, senior agricultural commodities trader at Marex Spectron, told CNBC.
